The key to making Muscat Canelli is finding the right balance between sweetness and acidity without compromising the unique Muscat character. Our 2018 vintage is a delicate yet intensely fragrant white wine, offering aromas of white peach, pear nectar, honeysuckle, and orange blossom with flavors of apricot and ripe peach. The wine’s sweetness is offset by a crisp, light acidity and slight mineral character. Pair with fruit plates, ice cream, sorbet, or pecan pie. Chilled well, Muscat Canelli makes a refreshing aperitif on a summer day.
Vintage and Vineyards
2018 was cooler and wetter than the past few growing seasons. The vines responded with good canopy growth. The extra shade resulted in nicely flavored grapes, free of sunburn and bitterness—perfect for white wine.
The wine was slowly fermented with Epernay II yeast at 54°F–64°F in stainless steel. It was then racked, fined, and chilled to 29°F. To retain its fresh, fruit aromas, the Muscat went directly to bottle with no barrel aging.
