2015 Terroir Malbec

The Wine

The 2015 Malbec opens with black plum and blueberry on the nose, with cedar, oak spice, and vanilla. Thick and dense on the palate, this wine is layered with black plum and blueberry flavors. Oak adds complexity with cedar, spice, and vanilla. Pair this wine with prime rib, seared duck breast, grilled lamb shanks with rosemary, or dark chocolates.

Vintage and Vineyards

2015 was another very warm year with an early spring, which allowed the grapes to develop the full, ripe fruit flavors and aromas, as well as the soft, supple tannins, associated with excellent quality wines. The grapes for this wine were harvested exclusively from Horse Heaven Hills, an area known for growing Malbec of intense color, flavors, and aromas.

Winemaking

The grapes were harvested midday to late afternoon to encourage the natural heating of the fruit. The grapes were destemmed, crushed, and fermented in stainless steel. The wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and was aged for 20 months in French and American oak barrels, about 30% new.
