2016 Terroir Muscat Canelli
The key to making Muscat Canelli is finding the right balance between sweetness and acidity without compromising the unique Muscat character. Our 2016 vintage is a delicate yet intensely fragrant white wine, offering aromas of white peach, pear nectar, honeysuckle, and orange blossom with flavors of apricot and ripe peach. The wines sweetness is offset by a crisp, light acidity and slight mineral character. Pair with fruit plates, ice cream, sorbet, or pecan pie. Chilled well, Muscat Canelli makes a refreshing aperitif on a summer day.
VINTAGE AND VINEYARDS
2016 was yet another extremely early and warm growing season. Our block of Muscat Canelli in the Andrews and Rowell Vineyard ripened in late August this year, much earlier than average. The grapes for this wine were harvested exclusively from the Andrews and Rowell Vineyard where warm temperatures allow the Muscat Canelli to ripen quickly and early.
The wine was slowly fermented with Epernay II yeast at 54°–64°F in stainless steel. It was then racked and chilled to 29°F. To retain its fresh, fruit aromas, the Muscat went directly to bottle with no barrel aging.
