2015 Terroir Muscat Canelli
The key to making Muscat Canelli is finding the right balance between sweetness and acidity without compromising the unique Muscat character. The 2015 Muscat Canelli is a very delicate yet intensely fragrant white wine with aromas of white peach, apricot, pear nectar, honeysuckle, and orange blossom. The wine’s sweetness is offset by a crisp, light acidity and slight mineral character. Pair with fruit plates, ice cream, sorbet, or pecan pie. Chilled well, this Muscat Canelli makes for a refreshing apéritif on a summer day.
VINTAGE AND VINEYARDS
The 2015 growing season saw above-average temperatures, providing the perfect growing conditions throughout Washington state. Fruit for this Muscat Canelli was exclusively harvested from the Andrews & Rowell Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills, where warmer temperatures caused a much earlier-than-normal ripening in late August.
The wine was slowly fermented with Epernay II Yeast at 52º–57ºF in stainless steel until it reached 7º Brix. It was then racked and chilled to 29ºF. To retain its fresh, fruity aromas, the Muscat went directly to bottle with no barrel aging.
