2015 Terroir Dry Riesling
The 2015 Dry Riesling displays apple, pear, apricot, and orange on the nose. The palate is clean and exceedingly smooth, with peach, orange, and tangerine flavors. This wine has well-balanced acidity and touches of minerality. Pair with chicken satay or grilled halibut.
VINTAGE AND VINEYARDS
2015 was another extremely early, warm harvest season—our second in a row. The season’s heat caused vines to shut down before resuming growth when temperatures cooled. Most of the fruit was sourced from the O’Brien vineyard, located in the lower Yakima Valley between Prosser and Benton City. This site has fairly deep soils and good leaf cover for the fruit. These conditions allow the flavor development of the fruit to keep pace with the sugar accumulation. Additional grapes came from Art DenHoed, Hogue Ranches, Flying M Farms, Morrell, and Andrews Vineyards.
The grapes were primarily hand harvested during daylight hours, to take advantage of the sun’s heat for warm, effective macerations. The grapes were brought direct to press before fermentation in 100% stainless steel tanks. It was bottled in late January. With no oak influence, the wine displays a crisp, refreshing character.
