Gary Hogue
Co-Founder
Gary’s expertise has helped Hogue become one of Washington’s largest wineries, with a 2002 production of 570,000 cases. Gary is responsible for sales, marketing and promotional segments of the business, and he travels extensively in the U.S. and abroad to promote Hogue and Washington wines.
Gary grew up in Prosser, Washington, where his parents, Wayne and Shyla, have farmed for more than a half-century. At age 21, he left the farm for Seattle and a career in construction materials, eventually becoming president of a 250-employee company. When Mike started Hogue Cellars in 1982, Gary handled the sales and marketing duties on a part-time basis; by 1988, its success prompted Gary to join the winery full-time.
Gary serves on a number of boards, including the Auction of Northwest Wines, and he joined Mike in serving as the first co-vintner chairs in 1999. Gary developed Seattle’s annual “Hogue Springs Eternal” celebrity chef’s dinner and auction, which raises money to support services for those with AIDS and HIV.
Co Dinn
Director of Winemaking
Co was born in Louisiana and raised in Texas. He earned a bachelor of business administration at the University of Texas in Austin in 1983, then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to work for an oil and gas company. An interest in food and wine led him out of the oil fields and into the enology program at UC Davis, where he completed his master’s degree in 1995.
Co’s first hands-on winemaking experience came in 1989, as a crush cellar worker for Sterling Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Co returned to Sterling for the following harvest, worked in the Sterling lab in 1991, and then joined nearby Trefethen Vineyards as a crush intern and later an enologist.
With master’s degree in hand, Co left Trefethen and joined Hogue in April 1996. Since then, he has played a vital role in the winery’s improvements in wine quality and increases in volume.
Jordan Ferrier
Winemaker
Jordan has been through seven harvests at Hogue. He was hired on as a Research Enologist where he did manage many of the studies we did on micro-oxygenation, yeast selection and closures. Jordan also developed several databases we use to manage vineyards, wine evaluations and winemaking. Jordan became the red winemaker this last year after Nicolas Quille's departure. It was a natural move for Jordan and the winery with Jordan's intimate knowledge of Hogue winemaking and information systems.
Jordan is a native of Washington State and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington in Chemistry. He also attended UC Davis where he earned a Master's Degree in Food Science – Enology. Jordan is married, has three boys and is an avid snowboarder.
