Hogue 2015 Reserve Chardonnay opens with toasty aromas of baked apple, Bosc pear, vanilla, cinnamon, and a slight hint of butter. The palate is balanced, rich, silky, and concentrated with vanilla, cream, spice, and nutmeg. Pair with grilled sockeye salmon, pasta alfredo, brie or other warm, ripened soft cheeses, roast chicken with tarragon, or halibut in a butter sauce.
The key to making Muscat Canelli is finding the right balance between sweetness and acidity without compromising the unique Muscat character. Our 2017 vintage is a delicate yet intensely fragrant white wine, offering aromas of white peach, pear nectar, honeysuckle, and orange blossom with flavors of apricot and ripe peach. The wine’s sweetness is offset by a crisp, light acidity and slight mineral character. Pair with fruit plates, ice cream, sorbet, or pecan pie. Chilled well, Muscat Canelli makes a refreshing aperitif on a summer day.
In its native region of the northern Rhone in France, Viognier grows on baking hot south facing slopes above the river where it ripens perfectly. One could imagine that it might be well suited to eastern Washington conditions. Here it develops melon and tropical fruit flavors overlain with a nice floral character.
The 2017 Viognier opens with aromas of peach, pear, exotic fruits, and fresh floral notes. The flavors are clean and crisp with soft acidity. The wine is very slightly sweet and pairs well with lightly oily seafood, spicy Asian cuisine, or goat cheese. It is also delicious enjoyed alone as an aperitif.
